WHAT IS A HEALTH COACH?

A health coach takes the time to listen to your unique Health concerns and helps you to set goals, find solutions and establish healthy habits that work for you and the life you want. Since there is no one-size-fits-all diet, a health coach guides you to design a lifestyle that suits your individual needs, your body and your lifestyle while at the same time providing you with professional support and being your cheerleader and teammate along the way.

CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOUR CREDENTIALS?

I received my health coaching qualification from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition based in New York City. The school has become the world's largest online health coaching and nutrition school with a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, teaching that it’s not just about the food on your plate, but also how you nourish yourself through other areas of your life, such as your relationships, career, physical activity, and spirituality, and more.

In regard to movement, I am a professional dancer and have been training physically through modalities such as pilates, gyrokinesis, myofascial release, yoga, and classical dance technique since a young age. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM and certified by the Grey Institute, the nation’s premier functional movement & prehab institute in 3D MAPS as well as CFS programming for functional movement.

I also created the first-to-market wellness program, Phase & Function- aligning mindset, movement, and meals with the menstrual cycle for women seeking weight loss & maintenance, mitigation and elimination of PMS, and improved energy. Over 100 hours of research, a year and a half of execution, and collaboration with fellow functional movement experts in the field, as well as medical professionals Vanessa Risetto, RD and Suman Tewary OB/GYN made this program possible. HOW IS A HEALTH COACH DIFFERENT TO A REGISTERED DIETICIAN OR NUTRITIONIST?

While the foundational goal is the same, to help people reach optimal health, there are some important differences.

Registered dietitians and nutritionists create specific nutrition data based guidelines for clients to address specific health issues based on lab tests, measurements, and macronutrients, to develop specific meal plans for clients to monitor their symptoms. They tend to work in medical settings to help patients with serious and specific health conditions. Since they work in conventional settings, they’re less able to provide ongoing and fully attentive support. They may focus more on disease-management, purely weight loss, and the elimination of symptoms rather than achieving lasting habit change.

A health coach takes a holistic approach to health and uses goal-setting and accountability-based coaching strategies to help people understand and navigate their own health concerns. Health coaches work together with their clients to help them create habits with ease that evolve into an effortless lifestyle, with a natural approach to everything. They guide their clients towards sustainable diet and lifestyle changes by equipping them with the tools to achieve their goals. Health coaches empower clients to learn the language of the body, how to listen, and respond.

HOW DOES HEALTH COACHING WORK?

Upon inquiry, you’ll be prompted to set up an online health coaching account where you can fill out intake information. We begin with an initial consultation to talk health history, goals, setbacks, and current concerns. You will receive initial recommendations and resources to get started as well as some options for our coaching relationship moving forward. Once you choose your desired program, you will begin logging and receiving immediate feedback in every area of life that we’re monitoring together. We will see each other at a regular cadence for full-length, 50 minute sessions to speak about what’s new & good, talk about previous recommendations, troubleshoot, check in with goals, and make new shifts, and get new recommendations & resources. I am available to you via your online health coaching app 24/7 for any concerns that arise as well as guidance that’s necessary between sessions.
